Nato risks a nuclear war with Russia 'within a year', senior general warns

Prophecy Sign:  Rumors of War

Nuclear War within a year??  That's an incredibly frightening thought. But with tensions ramping up over such issues as missile defense systems and Middle-East affairs, the prospects of some form World War 3 scenario is very close at hand.  All it might take is some hot-dog fighter pilot, (articles below), getting a bit too close for comfort with the other side, and things could go sideways in a hurry.

Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword. Revelation 6:4 NIV

Nato risks a nuclear war with Russia 'within a year', senior general warns
Nato risks a nuclear war with Russia within a year if it does not increase its defence capabilities in the Baltic states, one of the alliance's most senior retired generals has said. General Sir Richard Shirreff, who served as Nato’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander in Europe between 2011 and 2014, said that an attack on Estonia, Lithuania or Latvia – all Nato members – was a serious possibility and that the West should act now to avert “potential catastrophe”. He has written a fictional book 2017 War with Russia, but told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme the events it describes were “entirely plausible”.

Russia Calls New U.S. Missile Defense System a ‘Direct Threat’
As American and allied officials celebrated the opening of a long-awaited missile defense system in Europe with a ribbon cutting and a band, the reaction in Russia on Thursday suggested the system had raised the risks of a nuclear war. Russian officials reiterated their position that the American-built system imperiled Russia’s security. But the public discussion in Russia was darker, including online commentary of how a nuclear confrontation might play out in Europe, and the prospect that Romania, the system’s host, might be reduced to “smoking ruins.” “We have been saying right from when this story started that our experts are convinced that the deployment of the ABM system poses a certain threat to the Russian Federation,” the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri S. Peskov, told reporters in a conference call.
