Prophecy Sign: Increased knowledge - Genetic Engineering
Genetic modification of humanity is the modus operandi of the Transhumanist movement with the ultimate goal to transform the human species to a god-like state. This hubris will likely play a major role in the future 'Mark of the Beast' which we have noted before will be the genetic alternation of the creation of God into something totally un-redeemable.
"But as for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase." Daniel 12:4 NASB
Genome Editing Is a Huge Deal, But It’s Just the Tip of the Iceberg
CRISPR/Cas9 has been touted as an almost magical technology in the news—and rightly so. The technique allows scientists to alter the DNA of living cells and, it’s hoped, achieve a longstanding goal of science to treat disease at the genetic level. That’s a really big deal. An estimated 6,000 diseases are caused by genetic mutations, and only 5% can be treated. Take sickle-cell anemia, for example. Often deadly, it is caused by a single mutation in one of the human body’s three billion DNA base pairs. It’s a small, well-understood error in the genetic code, but so far we have been helpless to repair it. The CRISPR/Cas9 system, often described as a pair of DNA scissors, could zero in on the troublesome base pairs causing sickle-cell anemia, and replace them.
New Technologies Boosting Transhumanist Agenda
The Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies recently examined the area of Transhumanism and wondered if it might actually turn out to be 'mankinds final religion'. Dirk Bruere admitted that there were varied interpretations and definitions of what Transhumanism really is, but settled on the following one for reference: "Transhumanism is a class of philosophies of life that seek the continuation and acceleration of the evolution of intelligent life beyond its currently human form and human limitations by means of science and technology, guided by life-promoting principles and values." (Max More 1990).
