Europe’s Jewish Population Continues to Plummet

Prophecy Sign: Increasing Jewish persecution

Hatred of the Jews is on the rise across the globe...even in places that you would think would have learned a hard lesson decades ago.  This is just as bible prophecy warned of.

Among those nations you will find no repose, no resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD will give you an anxious mind, eyes weary with longing, and a despairing heart. You will live in constant suspense, filled with dread both night and day, never sure of your life. Deuteronomy 28:65-66 NIV

Europe’s Jewish Population Continues to Plummet
If you ignore the cringe-worthy opening line of this article from the Pew Research Center – the Holocaust did far worse than “decimate” Europe’s Jewish population – you will find some interesting facts. In a nutshell, Europe’s Jewish population continues to decline. There are now approximately 1.4 million Jews living in Europe, compared to 9.5 million in 1939. Only 10 percent of the world’s Jews now live in Europe, and a mere 0.2 percent of Europeans are Jewish. And apparently, Europe’s Jewish population will only continue to decline. Thousands of French Jews, for example, are emigrating each year, most commonly to Israel. A Europe without Jews would be almost without precedent; the continent has played host to Jewish communities for millennia. It would also be an immeasurably poorer place, in myriad ways. We’re talking about the culture that produced Kafka, Freud, and Stefan Zweig – in addition to the bagel.

U.K. parliament report shows doubling of anti-Semitism over last 10 years
A United Kingdom parliamentary report released Monday recommended that the British government take urgent action to curtail a “disturbing rise” in anti-Semitism recorded in the country. The "All-Party Parliamentary Inquiry Into Anti-Semitism" found that hate crimes against British Jews have doubled in the last decade and have worsened during periods of conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. Some of the incidents noted in the report include a violent attack on a rabbi in north London, anti-Semitic placards displaying “Hitler was right,” and anti-Semitic graffiti such as swastikas at Jewish sites.
