The Dangers of the Temple Mount

Prophecy Sign:  The battle for Jerusalem, (and the land of Israel)

Events are quickly moving the Middle-East to yet another major war fought between Israel and her Arab neighbors.  The events of the last days will revolve around Israel and will see many battles fought including the Psalm 83 war, the Gog/Magog war and culminating in the battle of Armageddon. The God of Israel will deal with her envious neighbors who seek the destruction of the Jewish state for the purpose of taking over all the land currently occupied by Israel.

Because you have said, “These two nations and countries will be ours and we will take possession of them,” even though I the Lord was there, therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I will treat you in accordance with the anger and jealousy you showed in your hatred of them and I will make myself known among them when I judge you. Ezekiel 35:10-11 NIV

The Dangers of the Temple Mount
The Old City of Jerusalem is that fortunate one-third of a square mile in the world where holy sites of the three major monotheistic religions are intimately contained. In its four quarters are the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Via Dolorosa, the Western Wall, and the Temple Mount, upon which sit the al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, an Islamic shrine and one of the Middle East's most recognizable buildings.
It is in this religious realm that everything grows inexorably more dangerous. Israeli leaders have pointed to the recent violence and blamed their Palestinian counterparts for incitement. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' decision to call this month's closure of the Temple Mount "a declaration of war" had its echoes among Palestinian groups and others who frequently allege that Israel is plotting to destroy the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Analysis: The Two-State Illusion
What are Palestinian officials asking for? Theoretically they want two states based on the 1948 armistice lines. Accordingly, everything outside those lines, which includes Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem, belongs to "Palestine." In other words, they're laying claim to everything Israelis have built in areas that came back under Jewish sovereignty in 1967. But beyond that, they teach their kids that one day all of Israel will be theirs.

The mounting tensions have prompted Israelis to stock up on self-defence weapons following the random and fatal stabbings of two Israelis. The Jerusalem Post said they were attacked by Palestinians in Tel Aviv earlier this week. Staff at gun store told the local paper that they were sold out of weapons. Aryeh Green, a 16-year-old Israeli said people are arming themselves with knives, pepper spray and even brass knuckles. Violent attacks have been on the rise in the last few weeks over the Temple Mount as Palestinians in east Jerusalem claimed the Jews were secretly attempting to take control of the site. Meanwhile, the collapse of peace talks, the war in Gaza against Hamas and the continued resettlement of Israelis in east Jerusalem added to the growing distrust between Israelis and Palestinians. The recent turn of events has caught the attention of the United States that previously brokered peace talks between the two parties.
