Ahead of New Year, Aliyah Hits 5-Year High

Prophecy Sign:  The regathering of the Jews back to the Holy Land

For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.  I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.  I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:24-26 NIV

Ahead of New Year, Aliyah Hits 5-Year High
The final 140 immigrants of the year 5774 arrived in Israel on Monday from Russia and Ukraine, and were greeted at Ben-Gurion International Airport by Minister of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption Sofa Landver, and Jewish Agency Chairman Natan Sharansky. Data compiled by The Jewish Agency for Israel and the Ministry of Aliyah and Immigrant Absorption shows that some 24,800 new immigrants have arrived in Israel in the Jewish year 5774. This represents a significant 28% increase compared to the 19,350 immigrants who arrived in Israel in 5773 and the highest number of the past five years. Aliyah from France has more than doubled, from 2,650 in 5773 to approximately 6,000 in 5774, marking the first time in history that more immigrants have arrived in Israel from France than any other country.

Israeli population hits 8,904,373, census shows
The population of the State of Israel stands at 8,904,373, according to the Population and Immigration Authority. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the weekly cabinet meeting that Israel’s population has surpassed 8 million in 2013, including a population of over 6 million Jews, a historically freighted figure equaling the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust. “This number has a dual significance in light of the path our nation has followed in the past century, as well as into this century,” he said Sunday morning.
