Report: Egypt seeks Russian arms that could undermine treaty with Israel

Prophecy Sign:  The future Middle-East Wars - Psalm 83

As we said in our peace negotiations blog entry for today, the talks have not gone anywhere, with both sides still far apart.  Should the talks collapse, then the question is what would happen next?  Given the recent heated debate over the Temple Mount, (where even Jordan suggested it would rip up it's peace deal with Israel over the Temple Mount debate), and the obvious hatred that the Arab world would have for Israel, (likely accusing them for the collapsed talks), the likelihood of another Arab/Israel war would be front and centre.

As we can deduced from the articles below, the Arab neighbours of Israel are loading up with weaponry for what may be the next war between the Jews and the Arab, (Psalm 83).  In a final push to destroy the name of Israel forever.

See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel's name is remembered no more." With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you. Psalm 83:2-5 NIV

Report: Egypt seeks Russian arms that could undermine treaty with Israel
Cairo is seeking air-defense systems such as the advanced S-300 that Syria and Iran have sought, MiG fighter jets, and Kornet antitank weapons, which could cause Israel worry, according to a Washington Institute for Near East Policy report. Despite the fact that Egypt has maintained the peace deal with Israel since 1979, a transfer of such advanced weapons “would degrade Israel’s qualitative military edge,” said the report, titled “Egypt’s arms deal with Russia: Potential Strategic Costs,” by David Schenker and Eric Trager. “To be sure, the strategic cooperation and level of trust between Israel and Egypt, particularly on Sinai, has never been better. But changing the status quo could undermine that trust and perhaps even the Camp David peace treaty,” it said.

Iranian Ship Stocked with Heavy Warheads
Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon gave a press conference Wednesday explaining the IDF raid of the Iranian weapons ship carrying missiles to Hamas in Gaza. "Special forces boarded and intercepted an Iranian arms vessel on the way from the Iranian port, Bandar Abbas, to the Sudanese port, Port Sudan," Ya'alon explained, "knowing that the end destination is the hands of the terror factions in the Gaza strip."
"What we learn from this operation is - first of all - that, as we call it, 'Hamasstan' is a terror entity - armed, trained, financed in many ways by Iran," the Defense Minister declared. "What we found in this specific shipment: rockets with a range or 90 or even more kilometers with warheads of 175 kilograms. It might be a threat for millions of Israelis in a major part of our country."
