Amid Regional Worries, China Boosts Defense Spending by 12.2%

Prophecy Sign:  Rumours of Wars

It sure seems strange to us that while the world is becoming a much more dangerous place, (Russian belligerence, North Korean nukes, Iranian nukes, Middle-East uprisings), that both the American and United Kingdom governments would deem it reasonable and responsible to make major cuts to their military budgets and armies. Isn't that a little like cutting way back on the number of police officers at the same time that drug/biker gangs are taking over the city?

The world is becoming a very dangerous place as geo-political hotspots burst forth all around us.  The Apostle John foresaw a time when in the early stages of the Tribulation, wars would occur which would take many, many lives.  We believe that what we are seeing now, is the stage setting for this coming time of world war.

When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword. Revelation 6:3-4 NIV

Amid Regional Worries, China Boosts Defense Spending by 12.2%
China has announced another double-digit increase in defense spending, amid regional worries about its growing military assertiveness. Beijing Wednesday said it will raise its defense budget by 12.2 percent this year to help modernize its armed forces and develop more high-tech weapons. The announcement immediately drew a statement of concern from Japan, which is among many Asian countries alarmed at China's rapidly growing military. China announced the figures along with a wide range of other policy plans at an annual meeting of its ceremonial National People's Congress.

US Army to Shrink to Pre-World War II Levels
The Obama administration plans to cut the U.S. Army to its smallest size since before World War II. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel called Monday for cutting the Army to between 440,000 and 450,000 troops, from the 570,000 troops it had grown to after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Hagel also said the Air Force's A-10 attack aircraft fleet will be eliminated, and the U-2 spy plane will be replaced by unmanned drones. Hagel's 2015 budget proposal reflects a push to reduce overall government spending as well as an end to the costly wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Military cutbacks may leave UK dangerously exposed
Plans to drastically scale down the UK’s military may leave the country unable to handle threats, a group of MPs has said. The military maintains plans to reduce troop numbers are aimed at the creation of a “flexible and agile force.” A report issued by a group of MPs on the Commons Defence Committee on Thursday leveled harsh criticism at the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) plans to scale down the military, in line with governmental budget cuts. The ‘Army 2020’ restructuring program will see troop numbers reduced to 82,000 in 2018 from just over 100,000 in 2010.
