Prophecy Sign:  The coming middle-east wars

Some very powerful headlines today which indicate that the middle-east is very close to exploding into war.  Yesterday we noted that Israel had called up 6 battalions to shore up their borders with Egypt and Syria.  Today we learn that the Israeli leadership is still contemplating an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, perhaps as early as this fall.  Of course such an attack would likely set fire to the region and see Israel come under attack from her Arab neighbors such as Egypt and Lebanon.

Seems relations between Israel and Egypt are worsening every day, to the point that the Obama administration has been scrambling to stave of any hostilities between the two middle-east powers.  And finally, we read that Israel is shoring up her defences along the Lebanon border and preparing for an attack against Hezbollah should hostilities break out along that front.

Bible prophecy expert, Bill Salus, in studying bible prophecy, has come to the conclusion that there will be two conflicts prior to the much discussed Gog of Magog war of Ezekiel.  He believes that a prophecy in the book of Jeremiah, (Jeremiah 49), which speaks of Elam is a prophecy yet to be fulfilled.  In this prophecy, Elam, (present day Iran), comes under attack and sees its military might broken.  Salus believes this to be an Israeli attack on the nuclear facilities of Iran.

Mr. Salus then believes that the surrounding Arab nations of Israel will come together in a united front to destroy Israel for good, (the Psalm 83 war).  Given these news headlines its not hard to see how these prophecies could easily be fulfilled back to back, and that also of the destruction of Damascus, (Isaiah 17), should Syria join the fray with an attack on Israel with chemical or biological weapons.

Another war at this juncture could deal a death blow to the European Union, now teetering on the edge of collapse, torn between austerity preached by Germany and northern European member nations, and printing more Euros, which southern European states (Spain, Portugal, Greece) need to avoid collapse.

Israel on Thursday received its fourth German-made submarine capable of launching nuclear warheads, expanding a fleet that experts say could be used in an attack on Iran.  Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that the submarine would increase Israel's capabilities and strength "in the face of the growing regional challenges." Israel is already in possession of three other German-made Dolphin-class submarines capable of carrying nuclear-tipped missiles. However, there is no evidence that Israel has armed them with such weapons and the country has never confirmed reports that it possesses a nuclear arsenal. Israel believes Iran is developing nuclear weapons and has hinted that it is ready to strike Iranian nuclear facilities to prevent Tehran from making an atomic bomb. Iran insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

The Obama Administration is stepping in to ensure that tensions between Middle East superpowers Israel and Egypt do not progress any further towards armed conflict.  Disputes about cross border violence and disruptions of natural gas supplies have brought tensions between the two countries to a boil.

The Chairman of Egypt’s Supreme Military Council,Field Marshal Muhammad Tantawi said, “If anyone comes near Egypt’s border, we will break their leg.” Egypt’s Second Army chief, Gen. Muhammad Higazi added, “Aggressors should reconsider before thinking of attacking any part of Egyptian territory.”

These remarks were directed solely at Israel.  According to Israeli Intelligence website DEBKA, President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were warned by their own intelligence services that Egypt and Israel stood on the brink of war.

Almost six years after the Second Lebanon War, special Israeli units are preparing to take part in mass incursions into Lebanon if another round of fighting with Hezbollah breaks out. Just as important, they are being trained to heed the legal implications. Officers say the Israel Air Force would destroy targets like training bases and rocket-launching pads within a few days, based on the intelligence gathered by the Israel Defense Forces. But this would not be enough, so a ground offensive would be necessary.
